Dr. Cecilia M. Espinosa is an Associate Professor in the Early Childhood/Childhood Department at CUNY Lehman College. Cecilia was a bilingual multiage classroom teacher-researcher for over a decade before she completed her doctorate at Arizona State University, Tempe Campus. Her current research focuses on translanguaging as a theoretical and pedagogical stance that builds on the strengths of bi/multilingual students. Another of her research interests is children’s literacies and literature that affirms and expands their identities as composers and critical readers of texts. Cecilia co-authored the book (2021) Rooted in Strength: Using Translanguaging to Grow Multilingual Readers and Writers (with Ascenzi-Moreno).
