Launch of Youth Suicide Research Consortium Focused on Diversity

An interdisciplinary group of researchers, led by Dr. Regina Miranda of Hunter College, and including Dr. Elizabeth Jeglic from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Ellen-ge Denton from College of Staten Island, recently launched a consortium to increase diversity in suicide research among children, adolescents, and young adults. The Youth Suicide Research Consortium (YSRC), which includes researchers from 22 institutions (colleges, universities, and medical centers), is an interdisciplinary network of researchers dedicated to the study of youth suicidal behavior among diverse populations, including racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse, sexual minority, and gender-diverse youth, with an emphasis on understanding and decreasing disparities.
