Dr. Nadal's research has focused primarily on multicultural issues in psychology, particularly on understanding impacts of microaggressions (subtle forms of discrimination) on the mental health of people of color, women, and lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender/queer (LGBTQ) individuals. He is also considered one of the leading experts on Filipino American mental health and was awarded the Early Career Contributions to Excellence by the Asian American Psychological Association and the Emerging Researcher Award from the American Psychological Association Division 45: Society for the Study of Psychological Issues Culture, Ethnicity and Race. Dr. Nadal is also the Executive Director of CLAGS: The Center for LGBTQ Studies at the CUNY Graduate Center, as well as the President-Elect of the Asian American Psychological Association.
