Completed her Ph.D. at New York University during which time she spent 2 years at the ENS in Paris. Her research focuses on eighteenth- and nineteenth-century French literature. Specific interests include Libertinage and Romanticism, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, botany, Romantic ballet, and George Sand. She is completing a monograph on libertine language in Sand and Alfred de Musset, and also a critical edition of George Sand's La filleule (contracted with Champion, under the direction of BĂ©atrice Didier).
