Dr. Thelma Jurgrau-Galler died on Monday, January 21, 2019. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a cherished, retired professor of comparative literature at Empire State College SUNY, a lover and scholar of all things French, and the editor of the first American translation of George Sand’s autobiography. She was also a founding member of Les Amis de George Sand, a dedicated pianist and a person who loved engaging with people. Should you be so inclined, in lieu of flowers or gifts, a donation made in her name would be appropriate. The funeral was private.
