- The Thought Project - Episode 14 - Interview with Gregory Smithsimon
Gregory Smithsimon is an associate professor of sociology at Brooklyn College and The Graduate Center, CUNY, where he focuses on the social effects of urban space design, including how it can foster segregation or integration. In his new book — Cause…And How It Doesn’t Always Equal Effect, published by Melville House — Smithsimon unpacks how we often have flawed reasoning about cause and effect, particularly when it concerns social challenges like racism, climate change, and poverty. Smithsimon explains that black people live in black neighborhoods because white neighborhoods are unsafe.
