Meena Alexander Featured in 7/14 NYPL Poetry Reading
Distinguished Professor Meena Alexander (GC/Hunter, English) is one of three poets who will read from their work at a free event tonight at the New York Public Library.
The reading, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building’s DeWitt Wallace Periodical Room, will also feature the poets Ross Gay of Indiana University and January Gill O’Neil of Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts.
Alexander’s collections of poetry include Birthplace with Buried Stones (2013), Quickly Changing River (2008), and Raw Silk (2004). Her book Illiterate Heart (2002) won a PEN Open Book Award. Alexander is also a theorist and critic; her research interests include poetics, transnational migration, trauma, and memory.
