Beginning on October 19, 2021, all Graduate Center students will have the opportunity to provide feedback about life at the Graduate Center through the Student Experience Survey. Results from this comprehensive survey of doctoral and master's students will help the Graduate Center gauge student satisfaction and make informed decisions about the policies and programs that impact students.

“This survey is part of an ongoing effort to evaluate and refine students’ experiences at the Graduate Center,” said Provost and Senior Vice President Steve Everett. “Created in collaboration with faculty and academic leaders, it includes questions about a number of important areas, such as the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, issues of diversity and inclusion, and the quality of advising and career preparation, that will help us understand where we are succeeding and where we can do even better. I am deeply grateful to everyone who helped create this survey, and I thank our students in advance for sharing their experiences with us.”

The survey was designed by the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (OIRE), which is part of the Provost’s Office, in close consultation with Graduate Center executive officers, department heads, students, and the provost.

“The survey questions were thoroughly researched and carefully selected to capture the experiences and the expectations of our doctoral and master’s students,” said Yun Xiang, associate dean for institutional effectiveness. “It is an opportunity for all students to have their voices heard by both the Graduate Center administration and the faculty and staff in each program. I know how busy our students are, and we want to make their time completing this survey worthwhile. My office is committed to sharing the results with the entire GC community.”

The survey will open on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, and close on Friday, November 5, 2021. It will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and all responses are confidential. The survey will be sent by email to all Graduate Center students.
