A Message from the President: Thank You
Dear Graduate Center community,
The approaching November break offers a welcome opportunity to express how grateful I am to all of you — faculty, students, staff, and alumni — for the commitment you have shown to The Graduate Center and its mission through all that you do. Thank you especially to the essential workers on our public safety and facilities teams who are keeping The Graduate Center and Advanced Science Research Center buildings safe and fit for our eventual return.
The news of two, perhaps even three, potential vaccines makes the prospect of reopening more of a reality. For now, though, we must stay the course. We will continue to follow the science and do our best to ensure that you and those whom you love and care for will remain safe.
So over the next few days, please give yourself time to relax, reflect, recharge, and honor what is most important to you. Although The Graduate Center will be closed on Thursday and Friday, I know that some departments will hold virtual gatherings for students and faculty so that our community remains connected.
I am heartened by the support that you show for one another in these and so many ways. While it is important to stay physically distant, social connection remains absolutely essential.
May you enjoy the comfort of friends and family and stay well.
With best wishes,
Robin L. Garrell
