The Graduate Center, CUNY · What Biden’s Presidency Will Mean for Education: David Bloomfield on The Thought Project
Professor David Bloomfield of Brooklyn College and The Graduate Center, CUNY, a widely quoted expert on urban education and education policy, discusses the pitfalls and promises of a reimagined U.S. Department of Education during the Biden administration. President-elect Joe Biden pledged during his campaign that the next secretary of education would have a teaching background. Bloomfield opines on that decision, given the demands of the role and the need to address issues of equity and access in U.S. public schools. He also weighs in on the proposal to forgive student loan debt and the consequences of a Republican-led Senate.
