James Orr on The Thought Project - Episode 92
James Orr is the associate director of the Economic Studies Group at The Graduate Center, CUNY. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Business Administration from Drexel University. Orr discusses the economy of New York City with the Thought Project.
The COVID-19 pandemic and the related job losses have hit New Yorkers hard and unequally. Low-wage workers and Black and Hispanic neighborhoods have suffered the most. According to Orr, though, employment in the city is making a recovery. He dismisses predictions of doom and gloom about New York’s future, indicating that “the city has shown a lot of ability to bounce back, to restructure itself.” Listen in for more details about his economic forecast for the city in 2021.
