When identifying The Graduate Center use the resources and tools below to properly represent the GC brand.
BRAND ASSETS
Please note that trademarks of The City University of New York, such as the acronym “CUNY,” the names of CUNY colleges and schools, and related logos and trade names, including The Graduate Center logo, are the property of The City University of New York and protected by law.
The official name of our school is The Graduate School and University Center of The City University of New York, but our commonly accepted and preferred nomenclature is The Graduate Center, CUNY. After the center is properly identified, on second reference, it can be referred to as The Graduate Center. It can also be identified as The Graduate Center on internal materials and articles on our website. The acronym GC is acceptable on second reference, but generally less preferable in running copy. Avoid CUNY Graduate Center.
Graduate Center Entities:
- In referring to the ASRC, the official name is the Advanced Science Research Center at The Graduate Center, CUNY. On second and subsequent references, CUNY ASRC is acceptable. View the ASRC nomenclature guidelines (PDF).
Our primary identifying mark is The Graduate Center wordmark. The wordmark should not be altered (besides being enlarged or reduced) and should be used following the guidelines below and according to our Identity Guidelines (PDF).
The Graduate Center logo is provided for use by Graduate Center academic departments, research centers and institutes, administrative units, and officially approved doctoral student organizations. It may not be incorporated into, or combined with, any other mark, symbol, or graphic to create a new mark. The logo may not be used in a manner that is detrimental to The Graduate Center or CUNY, or to imply or suggest endorsement of any product or service not provided by The Graduate Center or CUNY. The logo may not be used in a manner that suggests official Graduate Center communication when it is not (such as on a personal web page).
The wordmark is available for download below in Graduate Center blue (PMS 286, CMYK, and RGB), as well as black and white for dark-colored backgrounds. Each logo suite below contains EPS, PSD, and PNG files.
The wordmark for the ASRC is available in a horizontal and vertical versions in three color varieties — ASRC gray (PMS 433U / PMS 433UP) and Graduate Center blue (PMS 286U / PMS 286UP), black, and white:

The Graduate Center identity is enforced throughout its communications by consistent use of colors and typography.
The Graduate Center's primary color is Graduate Center blue, as well as black and white. These colors should be used whenever possible for your print and electronic communications pieces.

The Graduate Center's identity is enforced through consistent font usage on printed and web materials. The Graduate Center's fonts are Univers Condensed for headings and Adobe Garamond for secondary text. When The Graduate Center's fonts are not available, use Lucida Grande/Lucida Sans for headings and secondary text.
