The Graduate Center draws the majority of its 1700 faculty members from the CUNY colleges and from cultural and scientific institutions throughout New York City. The Graduate Center also employs a core faculty of some 130 scholars.

Beginning in 1999, the University and The Graduate Center made a commitment to strengthening this cadre. Since that time, The Graduate Center has added forty-one new faculty members across its disciplinary spectrum.

The range of interest represented by these colleagues is strikingly diverse, but three elements unite them: scholarly excellence; a broad interdisciplinary vision; and a deeply-felt commitment to doctoral education.
