FAQs for e-VENT Reservations

e-VENT Online Reservation

1. What are e-VENTS?
e-VENTs are selected Graduate Center programs with advance online reservations.

2. How do I make a reservation for an e-VENT?
By clicking on the above icon, which you will see next to selected programs in the Graduate Center online calendar and on e-VENT presenters’ websites. You then follow the instructions for filling in the requested information. You will also be presented with an opportunity to join the Graduate Center’s Online Community.

3. Do I have to fill in all the information requested every time I make a reservation?
Not if you join the Graduate Center Online Community. Online Community members can simply log in with a user name and password. Members also receive other benefits. For further information, click here (link to Online Community page), or here to simply sign up (link to sign up page), or sign up while making reservations.

4. Can reservations only be made online?
Reservations to e-VENTs can also be made by calling 212-817-8215, but you cannot join the Online Community by phone.

5. Are reservations required at e-VENTs?
While all seats are available for reservations, unclaimed seats will be released to a standby line at the event on a first-come, first-served basis.

6. How do I claim my reservation?
You must show up at least 15 minutes prior to the program starting time to claim your reservation. Then, simply check in at the reservation table in the lobby. To facilitate the process, print out and bring with you the email ticket confirmation you receive when you make your reservation. If you don’t have a copy of your ticket/confirmation, please ask one of the event staff at the program to look up your reservation.

7. What happens if I don’t claim my reservation by the 15-minute deadline?
Reservations not claimed by 15 minutes prior to the starting time may be released to the standby line.

8. Can I make reservations for guests?
You can make reservations for yourself and up to three others. We urge you to fill in the contact information for your guests. If your guests arrive separately from you, they will be asked to provide their names.

9. Does my reservation guarantee a specific seat?
No, seating is general and selection of available specific seats is first-come, first-served.

10. Is there a reservation fee for e-VENTs?
No, e-VENT reservations are free.

11. How can I cancel my reservation?
Please call 212-817-8215, or email us at events@gc.cuny.edu to cancel your reservation. Please cancel if you know you will not be able to use your reservation, so it can be made available to someone else.

12. Will my information be shared with or sold to other institutions?
The information that you provide to us will not be shared with or sold to other institutions. We will occasionally send you communications about Graduate Center programs and activities only.

13. I have a question about an e-VENT, who do I contact?
Please call 212-817-8215.

14. Will I be notified if there is a change in time or an e-VENT is cancelled?
If you signed up online, you will receive an email notifying you of any cancellations or changes in time, date, etc. If you made your reservation by phone and did not provide an email address, then you might not receive this information.
