Cynthia Wong (Music) and three other composers were named the winners of Orpheus Project 440, a collaboration between Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and WQXR 105.9FM. The contest, which began in June, allowed the public to get to know the work of sixty nominated composers. A selection committee then narrowed down the group to four winners based on the public’s comments. The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra will premiere the four new works at Carnegie Hall during the 2011–12 season. (posted 11-2010) Wong won the 2008 Robert Starer Composition Award for “On Baldness and Other Songs” for soprano and orchestra. Excerpts from this work may be found at http://www.cynthialeewong.com.
