A Message from the Vice President for Student Affairs

Welcome to the Graduate Center. We are here to ensure that you obtain the opportunities you need to further your graduate study.

I want to make you especially aware of some useful publications. Primary among these is the Student Handbook, revised and printed for students every academic year. If you’re ever unsure about whom to contact or what administrative office to visit, you can always check the Quick Reference Guide to GC Offices.

Be sure to keep up with the Doctoral Students’ Council, which is the sole policymaking body representing students at the Graduate Center.

Beginning with the Fall 2011 semester, the Graduate Center will offer affordable housing to doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and members of the faculty. The eight-story complex, located at 165 East 118th Street, will provide easy access to bus and subway lines and a quick commute to the Graduate Center. For more information, visit the housing website.

Finally, we are always ready to provide you with support regarding registration, financial aid, wellness and psychological counseling, and various other types of services.

If we can be of any assistance to you, email us, call the office, or just stop by.

Sincerely,

Matthew G. Schoengood
Vice President for Student Affairs
