    For the first concert in its Winter/Spring series, Music in Midtown welcomes back tenor Robert White on Thursday, February 7, 1-2 pm for “Music of the Gilded Age.” With a nod to the Graduate Center’s neighbor, the Morgan Library, White will perform classical and popular music from the time of J. Pierpont Morgan, 1837–1913, leading up to the opening era of the landmark B. Altman department store building at 365 Fifth Avenue, where the Graduate Center is now located.

  • Press Release: Vanitas: Photographs by Anna Vivante on View at Graduate Center

    From September 24 to October 27, the CUNY Graduate Center will present Anna Vivante: Vanitas in the Exhibition Hallway.  Featuring 46 black and white photographs, Vanitas is an ongoing series of images which juxtapose human and animal skulls with living organisms and objects, whose intriguing formal affinities invite prolonged contemplation.  Located on the first floor of the Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue at 34th Street, the exhibition can be viewed Monday through Saturday, 12-6 pm.

  • Press Release: Recent Prints of a Pop Art Master on View at Graduate Center: Jim Dine Selected Prints, 1996-2006

    From October 2 to December 8, the Amie and Tony James Gallery at the CUNY Graduate Center will present Jim Dine Selected Prints, 1996-2006.  This exhibition of forty-seven prints, two livres d’artiste (books illustrated by the artist), and a recently published portfolio highlights the technical innovation and deeply personal imagery of the Pop Art master’s printmaking oeuvre.  The gallery is located on the first floor of the Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue at 34th Street. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 12 to 6 pm.
