What does it mean to live below the poverty line? While the mainstream press often reports on the
economic hardship of the middle class, issues around poverty are chronically absent. Long Story Short—a feature film, web documentary, and story archive by artist Natalie Bookchin—empowers Californians living below the poverty line to tell their own stories. Bookchin will show clips from the film and, with artist Alexandra Juhasz, discuss the changing nature of DIY journalism, the social
responsibility of the artist, and the project’s role as public archive.
