The Ph.D. Program in History offers advanced study in history, with a balance of traditional and emerging fields of study. In addition to equipping students with a thorough knowledge of their selected areas of specialization, the course of study is designed to provide comprehensive training in the historical craft through an emphasis on research and historiography.

Ancient History, Medieval European History, Early Modern European History, Modern European History, History of Science, Jewish History, Latin American History, United States History (colonial times to the present), Women’s History, Middle Eastern History, East Asian History.
Any of the designated major fields, and also: Lesbian and Gay History, African American History, Intellectual History, Urban History, and World History. Students may also choose interdisciplinary minors or minors in disciplines other than history.
