Audiology (Au.D)

Introduction

The Doctoral Program in Audiology, which awards the Au.D., is designed to provide students with excellent academic preparation and with varied and enriched clinical experiences. Graduates are prepared to be highly qualified, autonomous health-care professionals providing evidence-based diagnostic and rehabilitative audiologic services to individuals of all ages, with hearing and/or speech problems. The Au.D. Program has a licensure qualifying (B.A./B.S. to Au.D.) track and a non-licensure qualifying (M.A./M.S. to Au.D.) track.

Areas of Study

The program incorporates comprehensive academic and clinical professional education under a nationally and internationally recognized doctoral faculty. Internship and externship practica opportunities provide students with clinical experience in early identification; hearing conservation; behavioral and electrophysiologic assessment; and audiologic habilitation and rehabilitation. Graduates will be equipped to meet the audiologic hearing and balance health-care needs of a multicultural population of individuals with hearing loss across the lifespan.

Clinical Affiliations

A variety of clinical affiliations are available to students to acquire their clinical experience. The clinical placements allow students to gain knowledge and skill in the prevention, identification, evaluation, and management (including the fitting and assessment of sensory aids for hearing loss) of hearing and balance disorders in a diverse population.
