CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The CUNY School of Professional Studies has launched seventeen degrees: eleven bachelor's degrees open to students with 24 or more college credits who wish to complete their undergraduate studies, and six master's degrees, with more programs currently in development. CUNY SPS leads the University in developing and operating online degree programs, and trains faculty throughout CUNY in online instruction. CUNY SPS is also the home of the Joseph S. Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies, which offers higher education programs for working adults and union members, and serves as a nationally-recognized center for scholarship and resources for labor, academic, and community leaders seeking a deeper understanding of labor and urban issues.

The Financial Aid Coordinator will report to the Financial Aid Specialist.

Duties include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate the TAP certification process in order to ensure the accurate delivery of funds.
- Work with academic departments and administrative departments to maintain accurate and up-to- date financial aid processes.
- Coordinate financial aid programs and operations.
- Represent SPS at CUNY Financial Aid meetings and assist the Financial Aid Specialist by attending admissions events.
- Review contracts, disbursements, tuition and fees, and validating student eligibility for TAP, PELL, and Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans.
- Assist with reviewing and reconciling student payroll processing.
- Assist with preparation of documentation and reports to support financial aid activities.

GENERAL DUTIES
Coordinates financial aid procedures and activities and provides financial aid information.

- Schedules workshops, reviews applications, establishes pay cycles, disburses funds and resolves disbursement problems, and records awards, disbursements and returns

- Coordinates, verifies and resolves problems regarding the disbursement of scholarships and grants by verifying student eligibility, establishing pay cycles and reviewing pay-outs

- Reconciles accounting and disbursement schedules

- Provides data for financial aid and donor reports as needed

- Supports the College's enrollment management efforts by providing financial aid information to prospective students, their families and their high school counselors

- Serves as liaison between the college and direct loan providers

- Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree is required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least two years of experience working in a higher education financial aid setting (highly desirable)
- Knowledge of campus based aid, primarily the Perkins Loan Program
- Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs
- An understanding of Title IV regulations, specifically return to Title IV calculations and federal aid disbursement
- Ability to analyze detailed financial documents and financial aid applications to determine student eligibility for federal aid
- Ability to advise students on good academic standing requirements and the appeal process; review appeals for dependency overrides; and review New York State TAP roster with guidance by the TAP certifying officer
- Working knowledge of SIMS and FAPINQ
