The Office of Event Planning develops and disseminates policies to ensure effective coordination and efficient management of Graduate Center special events, including the doctoral commencement; advises faculty, directors of centers and institutes, and heads of offices about organizing and sponsoring special events, lecture series, conferences, receptions, and dinners; and manages rental of space to outside groups.

Concourse Level: Harold M. Proshansky Auditorium/Concourse Lobby and Breakout Rooms

The Harold M. Proshansky Auditorium opens directly onto this spacious lobby that can accommodate a seated lunch for 240 guests or a reception for 480 guests. Five flexible adjoining conference rooms seat 40 each and enable a large group to break out for small meetings. Conference rooms may also be combined to accommodate walk-around product displays.

First Floor: Martin E. Segal Theatre

A wood-paneled "black box" theatre with movable seating for 70 provides the ultimate in flexibility for a film/video screening, reception, luncheon, or business meeting. The separate technical booth and clear space assure a barrier-free area for arranging seats, tables, and a podium.

First Floor: Baisley Powell Elebash Recital Hall and Lobby

Designed for the acoustical needs of music and spoken-word presentations, this elegant, gently raked hall seats 180. Each comfortable, fixed seat has a fold-away tablet arm and looks onto a beautiful wood-paneled "thrust" stage, where you may customize the stage set-up for your meeting. The Recital Hall opens onto a bright, spacious lobby that provides an ideal location for breakfast, conference registration, or even a post-event cocktail reception.

Eighth Floor: Dining Commons with Private Adjacent Dining Rooms

Guests can enjoy an astounding view of the Empire State Building at a gala dinner or evening reception in this exquisite, glass-domed room for 236 seated guests. Four private adjacent dining areas can be opened to expand capacity to 300 seats. The connecting state-of-the-art kitchen prepares cuisine for events throughout the building, and can accommodate any request from casual continental breakfast, to self-service buffet lunch, to elegant, butlered dinner service.

Ninth Floor: Conference Room Suite

These four flexible rooms can seat 40 each or may be combined. All rooms feature wall-mounted blackboards and an amplification system, and they can be fitted with a video player and monitor.
