Inaugurated in the Fall of 2001, Macaulay Honors College (MHC) is dedicated to providing outstanding educational opportunities for academically gifted students from the five boroughs of New York City and beyond. The Honors College program includes generous financial support for students who are designated University Scholars upon admission. In addition, the Honors College offers students unique interdisciplinary seminars focusing on New York City, access to instructional technology, dedicated mentors and advisors, internships, study abroad experiences, and a Cultural Passport that provides entrée to the vast cultural resources of New York City. The Honors College operates in consortium on eight CUNY campuses: Baruch College, Brooklyn College, City College, Hunter College, Lehman College, Queens College, and the College of Staten Island, and John Jay College. Currently, Macaulay enrolls approximately 1,200 University Scholars on all seven campuses.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Business Finance, the College Assistant for Finance and Administration will provide support in the areas of purchasing, accounts payable, and general finance duties, including spreadsheets and reports. This is a temporary part-time position at 20 hours per week.
The duties of the College Assistant for Finance and Administration will include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Maintains CUNYfirst files and data. Input receiving reports and requests.
-Financial and Administrative development reports for management.
-Represents the Finance and Administration office in the absence of the Director by assisting the office in all aspects of the preparation for various budget reports and databases.
-Develops and maintains various spreadsheets related to the Budget and assists the department in the preparation of quarterly and monthly reports.
-Maintains records including appointments following office protocols in ensuring confidentiality of documents
-Liaison with Accounts Receivable and Purchasing to coordinate all purchasing and payments.
-Responds to all requests and inquiries in a timely manner; adheres to deadlines
-Files all documents and reports in a systematic manner
-Performs other duties as assigned by Director
-Previous experience with Accounting Software and data entry (ex. Quickbooks, FundEZ).Comfortable with numbers and reviewing/updating reports
-High school diploma
BA is preferred. Accounting, Finance or Computer Science related experience and/or education is preferred. One (1) year of full-time relevant experience highly desirable, preferably in a higher education setting. Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to meet deadlines; and the ability to work independently and carry out complex assignments are necessary, along with a comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
$14.00/hour - $17.00/hour
20 hours per week
